In 2001 Mercy Hospital was awarded a three year accreditation by Quality Health New Zealand for the fourth consecutive survey. Mercy Hospital is a not for profit organisation founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1936. Surpluses are channelled back into the hospital for ongoing equipment replacement and for the provision of quality care and support for patients.
